An Endicott College student from Japan has been identified as the woman who was struck and killed Wednesday by an MBTA commuter rail train at Prides Crossing in Beverly.

Asaki Nishiyama, 22, was a senior at the college, according to school officials.

“She wanted to help other students become more internationally involved and raise awareness about the life-changing diversity of the world,” Endicott President Richard Wylie said in a statement on the school’s website.

The MBTA and the district attorney’s office are investigating her death.
