Enter Metro’s photo challenge!

The fifth annual Metro Photo Challenge begins today, once again giving New York City’s photographers the chance to showcase their work against thousands of others from around the world.

The Photo Challenge is accepting entries at Metrophotochallenge.com until Nov. 20.

This year there are six themes for entries: Food Porn, Environment, Relationships, Moments of My Life, Imagination and Photo of the Day. As part of the Imagination category, Metro invites traditional photo entries, images that have been digitally manipulated and collages.

There will be eight winners chosen in the categories of Environment, Relationships, Moments of My Life and Imagination. Four winners will be chosen by Metro’s panel of judges, and four will be chosen by the number of “likes” each photo receives on Facebook.

The eight local winners from New York City will then go head to head with local winners from every other Metro city around the world.

A panel of judges will then pick a global winner in each of the four categories. The global winners will be announced on Dec. 20, and the winners will each receive a trip worth $1,350 to any city where Metro publishes.

In a separate category, a winning Photo of the Day will be selected every publishing day during the six weeks of the Metro Photo Challenge. The theme of the Photo of the Day will be announced each day in Metro newspaper and on the Metro Photo Challenge page on Facebook.

Satisfy your Food Porn urge

This year, Metro has included the Food Porn category as a tribute to one of our sponsors for the Photo Challenge, the New York City Food Film Festival. NYCFFF runs at Tribeca Cinemas from Oct. 13-16. Entries for the Food Porn category are being accepted online until Thursday at 5 p.m., and a winner will be chosen in time for the weekend’s screenings.

Get your tickets today to Metro’s Food Porn Party at Tribeca Cinemas this Saturday, Oct. 15.

The winner will also receive a prize donated by another of the Photo Challenge’s sponsors, the photography specialists Adorama. For more info, visit Thefoodfilmfestival.com or Adorama.com.
