A pair of fake FBI agents tricked a Waltham man into opening the door to his home Saturday night before pistol-whipping and robbing him.

Waltham Police are now searching for the two armed men, according to a report by The Boston Globe.

The suspects knocked on the door of the Bedford Street apartment around 11:30 p.m. and claimed to have an FBI search warrant, according to the report. When the victim answered the door, the suspects allegedly pistol whipped him several times in the head and demanded money.

The assailants fled the apartment without taking anything from the home after the victim told them he called 911.

Police are searching for the assailants, according to the report, though the men were wearing masks at the time of the attack. They are believed to be in their mid-20s.

The victim, who was not identified, was treated at a local hospital for head injuries and released.
