A captain with the FDNY has been suspended without pay after being arrested on charges of sex crimes against two children in California.

A FDNY spokesperson confirmed Sunday that Wilbert Riera, 51, has worked for the FDNY for 21 years, and is based on Staten Island. The FDNY declined to confirm the warrant charges the EMS captain was arrested on.

The 30 day suspension without pay is the maximum allowed by law, according to the FDNY.

An FBI task force made the arrest on Friday, according to numerous media reports, and the allegiations stemmed from a Sept. 12 incident involving two children in Hollywood.

A LAPD spokeswoman Sunday said her office was not releasing details from Riera’s arrest warrant, and would not have any information on his arrest until he arrived in Los Angeles, presumably on Monday.

Riera previously served as president of Brentwood Legion Ambulance from 2001-2002, according to the organization’s website.
