A woman died from injuries she sustained in a three-vehicle accident in the city's Logan section late Monday night.
The fatal collision occurred about 10:40 p.m. at Fifth Street and Roosevelt Boulevard. The 45-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Medical Center a short time later, according to police.
The car she was traveling in as a passenger was struck after its driver ran a red light, police said. The other vehicle was heading west on the Boulevard.
Police were withholding the woman's name Tuesday morning pending notification of family.
Charges are pending against the man who was driving the vehicle in which the woman sustained fatal injuries, Philadelphia Police Department spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said.
A third vehicle left the roadway after its driver lost control as a result of the initial crash.
