Female pickpocket hugs man to steal wallet in Theater District: Police

When it comes to strangers, it’s not just offers of candy you should avoid.

So much for free hugs.

Boston police said officers arrested a woman who allegedly walked up to a man, hugged him and took his wallet.

Officers were called to the Theater District about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when a man reported a robbery.

The man told police he was having a cigarette outside of 279 Tremont St. when the woman walked up to him and gave him a hug. Police said the man quickly discovered that his wallet was missing.

Police searched the area for the woman after the man provided a description. Officers caught up with her and arrested her.

Emily Bryant, 23, of Plymouth, was charged with larceny from a person, police said.
