A fire was reported at John Fitzgerald Kennedy Library and Museum on Morrissey Boulevard in Boston Monday afternoon, shortly after news broke regarding two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street.
The fire was initially reported as being mechanical and was not believed to be related to the explosions at the Boston Marathon finish line in Boston. Police commissioner Edward Davis, however, said at his first press conference that there was indeed an explosion at JFK Library and that police were treating the explosion as if it were related to the Marathon explosions. Davis said there were no injuries reported at the library.
At Davis' second press conference, which took place at 6 p.m., he said the two events were unrelated.
