A Philadelphia firefighter and his girlfriend have been charged with assaulting the firefighter's pregnant ex-wife and her current boyfriend twice last month, authorities reported.
Firefighter Michael Lawson, 38, and Sada Greenlee, 28, were charged over night with two assaults on the couple, first on Sept. 15, and then on Sept. 30.
Lawson's ex-wife is reportedly eight months pregnant.
The pair face charges of aggravated assault, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, along with possession of an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, simple assault and other charges.
The Fire Department has not taken any disciplinary action against Lawson at this time, said Philadelphia Fire Department Executive Chief Peter Crespo.
"We are aware that he is being detained by police and in custody," Crespo said. "Right now, we’re gathering the facts along with the police and conducting the investigation."
No information was available about where Lawson, of the 1400 block of W. Grange Street, was assigned or how long he had been a firefighter.
Lawson and Greenlee, of the 200 block of Collom Street, are scheduled for a court hearing on the charges Oct. 20.
Authorities list Greenlee's first name as "Sada," but Lawson has her name tattooed on his chest, visible in his mugshot, spelled as "Sadé."
