First Boston blimp parade to float over city landmarks today

The first-ever Boston blimp parade is expected to kick off this evening at 5 p.m., with Hood, DirectTV and MetLife Snoopy blimps taking part in the historic Boston flight.

The first-ever Boston blimp parade is expected to kick off this evening at 5 p.m., with Hood, DirectTV and MetLife Snoopy blimps taking part in the historic Boston flight.

The airborne parade route will travel over Fenway Park, Faneuil Hall, Boston Common and other city landmarks, according to organizers.

"An airship group of this size has not flown over any major metro area since 2012, when four blimps soared over Manhattan, including the three that will fly over Boston," Hood said in a media release.

Spectators can follow event using the hashtags #BlimpParade and #BlimpsOverBoston. A chronicle of the journey with also be tweeted from aboard the Hood Blimp.
