It was an eventful morning for a expectant couple in Marshfield.
With floods blocking the roads of the Kent Park area, the couple was unable to make it to the hospital in time for the woman to give birth. The Patriot Ledger reports that the couple was forced to deliver their baby boy on the side of the road.
Marshfield firefighters told the Ledger that the father-to-be called 911 at about 8:30 p.m. Friday to report his wife was in labor inside their car and they weren’t going to make it to the hospital.
The fire alarm operator managed to coach the father through the delivery, and by the time paramedics arrived on the scene, the healthy baby boy had made his debut.
Marshfield fire Capt. Anthony Boccuzo told the Ledger that mother and son were taken to South Shore Hospital shortly before 9 p.m. and that everyone is doing well.
