A 5-year-old girl was shot just outside her home in Wilmington, Del., Wednesday evening.
The shooting happened about 8:10 p.m. on the 1100 block of Pleasant Street, The News Journal reports. The girl, who was retrieving her scooter after a family dinner, was shot in her left leg.
The girl's mother told the paper her daughter was "doing OK" as she prepared to be transferred from Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Rockland, Del., to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia about 9:45 p.m.
