GREAT NECK – If you’re thinking about ducking out of a store or restaurant for a cigarette break in Great Neck, think again. On Tuesday, the village approved a smoking ban on sidewalks along or within 125 feet of Middle Neck Road, including businesses, parks and public housing. It’s
the first such municipal ban in New York, and only the third nationwide.
Mayor Kreitzman said the law stemmed from “complaints about smoke entering village stores and upsetting customers,” and stood to be a health benefit for pedestrians.
