The Transportation Security Administration caught a man attempting to go through security with a loaded .45 semi-automatic firearm in his carry-on luggage yesterday morning.
The gun had seven bullets in the clip and one in the chamber.
The man, a Stamford, Connecticut resident, is the first person arrested at a New York airport for possession of a firearm at a security checkpoint, TSA reported.
Port Authority Police, who regularly patrol JFK Airport, confiscated the gun and arrested the man on a state weapons charge.
The man was booked on a flight bound for Cancun.
