Gun ring busted in Brooklyn sting

The NYPD busted two gun smugglers who bought dozens of weapons at Florida gun shows and then sold them on the streets of Brooklyn.

Watson Joachin, 27, and Ryan Woodard, 22, unwittingly sold 40 guns — an arsenal of automatic pistols, assault rifles, sawed-off shotguns and rifles — to undercover cops as part of the sting. In total, 56 illegal guns were taken off the streets, officials said.

Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes called for tougher penalties for bringing guns into New York from out of state by increasing the maximum sentence from 15 years to 25 years in jail.

Kelly and others have pointed to recent stray bullet shootings as evidence of the need for tighter controls on guns.

Yesterday was declared a National Day of Outrage against gun violence by the Rev. Al Sharpton and his National Action Network.
