Harvard University issued an alert just after 9 a.m. on Monday that officials received a threat that explosives were placed in four buildings on campus.

The alert prompted the evacuation of several buildings on campus as well as the canceling of morning final exams and a massive police response.

As of about noon, police with bomb-sniffing dogs were still searching buildings on the campus. Access to Harvard Yard was restricted and some roads near campus were blocked off.

Also at about noon, Harvard said that the report of bombs on campus remain unconfirmed and that federal and state officials have joined the investigation.
