The two cops from NYPD's 19th precinctsaw the child's father carrying the baby's body in front of the apartment when Konatsotis, a former EMT, checked the child's vitals.

Roussine got behind the wheel of their police car as Konatsotis began to perform chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, with the parents in the back seat.

The officers made their way to Weill Cornell Medical Center, Konatsotis kept tending to the girl. Right before the car pulled up to the emergency center, the baby burped, Konatsotis said.

"That baby took a little belch there, and I said, 'My God, that beautiful little bundle of joy — she's OK," Konatsotis told Newsday.

The baby, whose name and family information was unreleased, remains in stable condition.
