Accused killer Jared Remy threatened to kill his former girlfriend when she denied him an unsupervised visit with their child 12 years ago, according to court documents obtained by the Boston Herald.
The threat resulted in the girlfriend getting a restraining order against Remy in 2001.
“Jared began verbally assaulting me, calling me an [expletive] [expletive] and a [expletive] lover and a [expletive] and that he was going to kill me and my [expletive] boyfriend,” the woman wrote in an application for a restraining order in Lowell District Court, the Herald reported.
“The defendant has been arrested for assault and battery on me in the past,” she wrote. “He has a lengthy record of assault, harassment, and a history of drug and alcohol abuse.”
Remy murdered his girlfriend Jennifer Martel at their Waltham home Thursday evening, authorities say. He allegedly stabbed Martel to death while their 4-year-old daughter was present.
Remy was arrested and charged with murder, assault and battery in a domestic situation, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
