A 23-year-old woman was jogging in Forest Hills Park around 7:25 p.m. on Friday night when she was hit from behind with a stun gun and then sexually assaulted, police say.
The woman was jogging along the bridal path in a wooded area of the park when she jogged past the man she said attacked her.
The man grabbed her from behind, and used a stun gun on her neck repeatedly.
He stole her iPhone and then tried to rip off her pants and underwear.
A man and woman walking their dog heard the woman screaming as they approached, and the suspect fled, cops said.
The couple, who did not see the attack, gave the victim their cell phone to call the police.
Cops described the suspect as a white male in his late thirties with reddish-brown hair, about 5-foot-9.
He was wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and navy blue sweatpants, and had facial hair and a gold hoop earring.
The NYPD is asking the public to help locate the suspect. Anyone with information should call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
All calls are confidential. Tips can also be submitted online.
