Judge Shira Scheindlin, a Manhattan federal judge who recently ordered the NYPD to stop carrying out their stop-and-frisk policy in and around some buildings in the Bronx, lifted that restriction today, the NY Post reports.
The city reportedly requested she hold off on enacting her ruling pending their appeal, and Scheindlin agreed, conceding that the restriction “cannot be effectively implemented” without determining what other “significant steps” are needed to cease systemic civil rights violations.
