A police officer is recovering after a child's bike was hurled from an apartment window and struck the back of his head.
Authorities said the officer was on the job as back-up in pursuit of a man who reportedly shot a gun near the Albany Houses housing project in Crown Heights at around 2 a.m. Sunday.
As officers arrested the shooting suspect, police said a hail of objects came flying down from a fifth-story apartment of a six-story building at 959 Saint Mark’s Ave. — including a pink child's bike.
It remains unclear how many people threw the objects or who threw the bike.
The bike hit the ailing officer in the back of his head. He was immediately rushed to Kings County Hospital Center for treatment.
Two other officers suffered minor injuries during the pursuit of the alleged shooter, but police said all had been treated and released by Sunday afternoon.
Investigators added that multiple suspects who are thought to have thrown out the bicycle and other items at the police have been apprehended and are in police custody, with charges pending.
