The 2-year-old boy who was kidnapped from a Rhode Island home over the weekend has been found "in good health."
Isaiah Perez was found wandering the streets of Providence on Sunday evening, apparently unharmed.
An Amber Alert was issued over the weekend after a double homicide in Johnston, R.I., where the child was kidnapped.
Two suspects were taken into custody Sunday evening for the murder and kidnapping: 22-year-old Malcolm Crowell was arrested in Fall River, Mass., and Daniel Rodriguez was arrested hours later in Providence. At the time of their arrest, the location of Isaiah had yet to be determined. Police were able to locate the boy a short time later.
“It was quite a distance from where we expected to find him,” Providence police Lt. Joe Donnelly told the Boston Globe. “We didn’t put it together right away that it was the child we were looking for. It took a bit of work to figure out it was the boy.”
The relationship between the toddler and his abductors isn't known at this time.
“There’s a lot of moving parts when it comes to relationships. There are several different families involved, lots of friends and families involved,” Parillo said. “I’m just glad the child has been recovered safely. That was our main goal from the beginning.
“It’s a very sorrowful day that two people lost their lives this morning, but if there could be a happy ending, the happy ending is the child’s been located.”
