A Lawrence police officer and fireman are being credited with saving the life of a 300-pound man who they pulled out of a burning building Monday night.
Lawrence police said Officer Carl Farrington was the first to arrive at the Worswick Terrace home just after 9 p.m. after calls came in about a fire.
The overweight man was not able to make it out on his own.
Farrington was joined by Deputy Fire Chief John McGinnins and the two ran into the home, carried the man down a flight of stairs and then outside to safety, according to WBZ.
Lawrence police said that Farrington was being treated at a hospital on Monday night for smoke inhalation.
The victim was in serious condition, police said.
