LGBTQ at risk in city foster homes?

Gay teens, stripped from dangerous homes, feel unsafe in city-sponsored foster care, advocates will tell the City Council today.

The Council meets today to discuss LGBTQ teens in city foster care and juvenile justice facilities.

Homosexual youngsters, said General Welfare Committee head Annabel Palma, are sometimes
harassed or abused by foster families:?“They’re coming from a home where they’ve been rejected,” Palma told Metro. “It adds to feeling even more rejected.”

The Administration for Children’s Services will attend the hearing, which comes a week after Gov. Andrew Cuomo suggested slashing 376 beds from youth facilities statewide.
