A 15-year-old Lynn teen pleaded not guilty to a felony murder charge on Thursday for his alleged role in an armed robbery during which the victim fatally shot the teen’s accomplice.
Kevin Omar Sanchez, pleaded not guilty to felony murder during his arraignment Thursday in Lynn District Court, according to the Essex district attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said Sanchez along with Jahleel Sanders Williams, 17, allegedly joined Amoy Blake, 18, in an attempted robbery. During the April 16 robbery, Blake allegedly put a gun to a 20-year-old Lynn man’s head. The man was able to shoot Blake with his own, legally licensed weapon, authorities said.
The man called emergency personnel while Sanchez and Williams allegedly fled. Blake was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Sanchez faces a felony murder charge, which under state law means that as a participant in the alleged armed robbery he is criminally liable for any deaths that occurred while committing that felony, the district attorney’s office said.
Williams pleaded not guilty to felony murder last week, according to the Globe.
Sanchez was ordered held without bail.
