Macy’s fireworks back to the East River?

Macy’s executives and the people in charge of fireworks operations have agreed to meet in the near future with public officials to consider moving Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks back to the East River.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and state Senator Daniel Squadron have been trying to get Macy’s to move the fireworks back to the East River afters several years on the Hudson. Today, a spokeswoman for Squadron said Macy’s, for the first time, is considering meeting with them to discuss the matter.

“Macy’s has been receptive to sitting down and discussing solutions,” a source told the Daily News. “We’re optimistic that soon there will be good news.”
