Police said Sunday morning that they arrested a man for allegedly indecently assaulting a child in East Boston.
Few details were initially released about the assault that took place Friday evening.
Officers were called to Waldemar Avenue in East Boston for a report of an indecent assault and battery on a child at about 6:45 p.m. While there they received a description of the suspect.
Witnesses told police the man who assaulted the child was a Hispanic man in his 30s with a chubby build and was wearing a white shirt with "Boston" written in red on the front.
Witnesses also told police that the man was in the area for a while before the assault and ran away after.
Police put out a description of the man on Friday in an effort to locate him.
