A 27-year-old man is confirmed dead after a three-alarm fire in a Hell's Kitchen high rise stranded some upper-floor residents and sent at least one other person to the hospital.
The fire broke out shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday on the 20th floor of a building at 43rd Street and 10th Avenue, an FDNY spokesman told the Daily News, adding that two civilians were taken to separate hospitals with critical injuries.
The 27-year-old victim was pronounced dead at St. Luke's Hospital.
Over 100 firefighters responded to the fire, which was brought under control shortly before 1 p.m., ABC News reports.
A man stranded above the blaze with his family tweeted an image of the blaze before reporting that firefighters had reached his floor.
