A man was electrocuted in the Christopher Street subway station yesterday, after he touched the third rail.
The man, who has not been identified, dropped something along the tracks and tried to recover it when he was electrocuted by the high-voltage rail, WPIX-TV reports.
The incident occurred during the afternoon rush aabout 3:28 p.m., authorities told DNAInfo.com.
The 1 and 3 lines were shut down while the authorities looked into the man’s death.
Last month, a Bronx man was killed by an incoming train as he tried to retrieve his fallen cell phone.
The MTA urges passengers to never go onto the tracks and alert an MTA employee or a police officer if they drop their belongings.
