A man who was about to change a tire on his car in the breakdown lane of Interstate 93 in Windham, New Hampshire died when he was struck and killed by a woman driving under the influence.
Police told WBZ that around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, the man and two passengers were preparing to change a tire on their car. While they were retrieving a spare tire from the trunk, 47-year-old Pauline Kochniec of Berlin rear-ended the car, causing the man to be carried a short distance along the road. He suffered devastating injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, WBZ reported.
Kochniec was transported to Elliott Hospital for evaluation, and was then charged with driving under the influence and aggravated driving.
