A Marblehead man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to raping an unconscious woman and then posting pictures of the attack on a fake Facebook page under her name.

Reid Jones, 44, pleaded guilty to rape, indecent assault and battery, identity theft andphotographing an unsuspecting person in the nude, according to the Essex district attorney’s office. A Salem Superior Court judge sentenced him to between five and seven years in prison followed by five years of probation.

Authorities said that Jones sexually assaulted the then 30-year-old woman, who was an acquaintance, while she was unconscious in 2010. Jones then photographed the acts and posted them on a fake Facebook page he created in her name.

After the woman stopped socializing with Jones, she became aware of the Facebook page and reported it to police. Investigators found additional photographs of the rape on Jones’ computer after they conducted a forensic investigation, according to the district attorney’s office.

“The shame associated with a sexual assault is painful enough without the additional burden of having photographs of the assault posted on Facebook,” Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said in a statement. “It took great courage for this victim to come forward and to see this case through.”
