A 19-year-old man was rescued by the NYPD Harbor Unit Saturday evening after getting stuck in the waters off Coney Island.

Police responded to a 911 call of a man drowning shortly after 7 p.m. in the area of West 16th Street, according to the NYPD. Arriving officers found the man crashing into the rocks on a jetty about 200 yards from the shore, and unable to swim away.

The NYPD said Police Officer Peter Jessnik was able to get a rescue vessel close enough for Police Officer Dianna Balioni and Police Officer Thomas Carrol to throw the man a life ring and pull him to the boat.

The swimmer was taken to Coney Island Hospital in stable condition and treated for hypothermia and bruising.
