A man busted trying to take photographs up the skirt of a young child in a Haverhill Market Basket grocery store landed in court yesterday.

Stephen J. Hager admitted to taking pictures of“unsuspecting females in the past using his cellphone,” cops told the Boston Herald.

Hager was charged yesterday with attempted indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, attempted posing of a child for a sexual act and attempted photographing a child for sexual act, and held on $10,000 bail, court records say.

The mother of the child told Haverhill police that “a man (she then described the above suspect) had been following her and her daughter around the store for approximately 15 minutes,” the report stated. “She thought he went away and continued with her shopping. She stated while in an aisle she was bent down looking at products with her daughter next to her on her right side. She stated all of a sudden she saw the suspect to her right and grabbed hold of her daughter.”

When the mother asked her daughter if the man had touched her, she replied, “The suspect touched her skirt and made it move,” cops said. The mother had no idea Hager had attempted to take photos with his cellphone up her daughter’s skirt until police pointed it out to her, according to the Herald.
