MAP: New York City street closures June 21 and 22

The Mermaid Parade — with a procession of sea creatures and the de Blasio kids — will cause street closures and traffic delays along with festivals, fairs and a Queens 10K during the first weekend of summer in New York City.

The NYPD said drivers should expect traffic delays near the closures.

Saturday, June 21

Summer Solsticeyogawill close down Broadway between 42nd and 44th Streets from 6 to 11:59 a.m. in Midtown.

West Eighth Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues will be closed from 12 to 5 p.m for the DOT Weekend Walks Positively 8th Street in Greenwich Village.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., DOT Weekend Walks Hamilton Heights-Sugar Hill Annual Cultural Festival will close Hamilton Avenue between 142nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue, as well as 143rd Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Hamilton Place in Manhattan.

The Church of St. John Baptist & Gramercy Park Neighborhood Association Fair will close Sixth Avenue between 34th and 42nd Streets from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There are several closures near and along the route of the International Immigrants Parade, Sixth Avenue from 42nd and 56th Streets, from 12 to 3 p.m.

In Coney Island, the 32nd Annual Mermaid Parade will cause numerous shutdowns from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The route is along Surf Avenue between West 10th and West 23rd Street, West 10th Street between Surf Avenue and Boardwalk and the Boardwalk between West 10th and West 15th Street. A festival will also be held with the parade.

From 7 to 9:30 p.m., DOT Weekend Walks Circle the Squarewill close Lane Avenue between East Tremont and Westchester Avenue in the Bronx.

Bronx Summer Fest will close Louis Nine Boulevard between Southern Boulevard and Jennings Street from 12 to 4 p.m.

There will be no closures, but the renaming of Daniel Carter Beard Memorial Square may cause delays at 11 a.m on Farrington Street and Northern Boulevard.

The renaming of Dr. Billy Taylor Way at 138th Street and Fifth Avenue may also cause delays, but no closures.

Sunday, June 22

From 12 to 6 p.m., the Ziua USA Romanian Day Festival will close down Broadway between Rector Street and Battery Place, plus Whitehall Street between Stone and Morris Streets, in lower Manhattan.

DOT Weekend Walks Summer Sundays in the Heights will close down Edward Morgan Place between 156th and 157th Streets from 1 to 5 p.m.

Graham Avenue between Metropolitan Avenue and Broadway in Brooklyn will be closed from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. for the Desfile Y Festival Latinos Unidos.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pitkin Avenue between Strauss and Amboy streets will close for the DOT Weekend Walks Pitkin Avenue Summer Plazas event in Brooklyn

The New York Road Runners Queens 10K will close roadways in Flushing Meadows Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The naming of Emanuel and Adam Gold Plaza at 10:30 a.m. on 70th Avenue and Queens Boulevard may cause delays, but no closures.

At 12 p.m., the naming of Janet Freeman Way will cause delays but no closures at Elizabeth and Kenmare Streets.
