Copley Place opens at 8 a.m. for deals, including The Art of Shaving’s $25 off any purchase of $125 or more, John Varvatos’s 30 to 40 percent off select merchandise, Elie Tahari’s $25 off entire purchase including sale stock, or go for gold with Orogold, a luxury skincare brand that’s infused with 24-karat gold and normally quite pricey ($128-$1,500). From Black Friday through Dec. 1, however, purchase one product and receive a second product of equal or lesser value free, each beautifully packaged. That’s a deal. (www.simon.com).

JP’s Tres Gatos has a 10 percent discount on all used vinyl and turntables. Record Store Day special new vinyl includes much from mono Miles Davis to The Replacements reissues to a new Dawes album. Also, among $5 grab bags containing used 45s, CDs, and cassettes, one will contain a “silver cat,” which is worth a free turntable! In the ‘burbs, Legacy Place kicks off around 6 a.m. with hundreds of early bird discounts. White House Black Market’s Black Friday sale takes 30 percent off your entire purchase until 9 a.m. and then discounts 25 percent through Sunday. Spend $200 at Carhartt and get $50 back. Stellabella has 20 percent off everything except for Lego and Playmobil. That discount applies to all Stellabella stores (www.stellabella.com). The Street (www.thestreetchestnuthill.com) and the Mall at Chestnut Hill (www.simon.com) are similarly loaded with deals.

Don’t forget Wrentham Village‘s Midnight Madness extravaganza, starting at midnight on Thanksgiving.

Black Ink will donate 10 percent of Friday’s sales to the United Nations World Food Programme, currently working to bring emergency food relief to the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines (5 Brattle St. 617-497-1221). The trickily named Schoenhof’s Foreign Books has 10 percent off domestic titles and 20 percent off international merchandise (76A Mount Auburn St. 617-547-8855). The World’s Only Curious George Store has 50 percent off select books, all bargain books are buy two, get one free, and there’s 50 percent off select Curious George tees, puzzles and mugs. The Harvard Book Store’s Holiday Hundred books have 20 percent off through the end of December (1256 Mass. Ave. 617-661-1515). Harvard Square original Oona’s Experienced Clothing has 10 percent off everything Friday and Saturday (1210 Mass. Ave. 617-491-2654).

At Zero Brattle and all branches, Sweet is giving free coffee or single espresso to anyone purchasing a full size cupcake between 3 and 5 p.m. on Black Friday. Let’s face it; you’ll need it.

Black Friday doesn’t have to be all schlepp. Hang out at Kings – located downtown, at MarketStreet, and at Legacy Place — and have fun with the kids, or not, and take it in turns to go off and shop.
