Black Friday traces its darkest roots to Philadelphia, drawing its name from city police describing the post-Thanksgiving chaos of shoppers and traffic. If you’re bold enough to brave the crowds, the least we can do is point you in the right direction.

Where: Express (1625 Chestnut St., 215-851-0699)

When: Nov. 13-Dec. 12. Doors open at 5 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29

Deals: Express never disappoints when it comes to sales. From Nov. 13-Dec.13, they’re offering $10 off a shoe purchase and 25 percent off watches. Between Nov. 16-Dec. 1, a purchase of $50 will earn you $25 a future purchase of $75 or more. But the best deals come on Cyber Monday: everything online will be 40 percent off.

Where: Delaware County SPCA (555 Sandy Bank Rd, Media, 610-566-1370)

When: Friday, Nov. 29, 10 a.m.

Deals: If you’re looking to cross “puppy” off your child’s (or your own) Christmas list once and for all, the Delaware County SPCA is offering reduced adoption fees on several animals this Black Friday. Most dogs and cats will be sold for $20.13 beginning at 10 a.m. By noon, puppies will be brought into the mix. There will be no adoption fees for cats over seven months old. Adult cats usually cost at least $80, and puppies $300.

When: Doors open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28

Deals: If the Target Lady Black Friday commercials from years past aren’t reason enough to venture to the many locations, maybe $119 Beats by Dre Solo HD Headphones are worth the trip. Other notable deals include an HP Photosmart 5520 printer for 55.99 (save $70), and a $100 Target gift card with the purchase of any iPad.

When: Doors open at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, through Friday, Nov. 29

Deals:Everything in the entire store is 50 percent off. If you thought the dollar flip flop sales cleaned them out, just wait.

Where: Best Buy

When: Deals begin on Thursday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m.

Deals: Snag a Kindle Fire for $99.99, $100 below retail value. The iPad 2 is also $100 off, on sale for $299.99.

Where: Toys “R” Us (2703 S. 3rd St., 215-334-4600)

When: Doors open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28. The first round of doorbusters lasts form 5 p.m.-9 p.m., and bonus doorbusters begin at 5 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.

Deals: All storewide clearance will be discounted up to 80 percent off through Nov. 30. The deals come in waves with different sets of doorbusters. Some of our favorite finds include Razor Scooters for $19.99, and the LeapFrog Leapster GS Explorer for $29.99. Another favorite is the fact that they call it doorbusters! The T”R”U peeps are aware that people actually bust down doors for Black Friday and they don’t pretend that any person attending these sales will act like a civil human being during the process. That’s honesty!

When: Doors open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28

Deals: Among all the other deals, shoppers receive a “Macy’s Wow! Pass,” earning an extra $10 off all sale and clearance apparel. Awesome doorbuster deals include 25 percent off Dyson vacuums and 40 percent off all single cup brewers, such as a Keurig.So this doorbusters thing is becoming universal. Right on!

Where: Philadelphia Premium Outlets

When: Friday, Nov. 29, 12 a.m.

Deals: While select stores are opening at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, the outlets are back with their Midnight Madness After-Thanksgiving Weekend Sale, beginning at 12 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29 and continuing through Sunday, Dec. 1. Some noteworthy sales: J. Crew will be offering 40 percent off everything in stores, and Juicy will be selling their basic track suit as a $50 doorbuster. Get 20 percent off your entire purchase at Nike, and half off several cookware items at Calphalon Kitchen Outlet. Neiman Marcus will offer 30 percent off jewelry and handbags, and up to 40 percent off apparel.

When: Doors open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28

Deals: Half off the entire selection of toys may have you running for the Andorra Shopping Center. The normally $229.99 Apex 32-inch HDTV is on sale for $139.99 in stores only. Bedding is 50-70 percent off. Earn $15 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend.
