A 52-year-old convicted rapist who posted bail after it was reduced because the drugs he was allegedly caught with here involved in the drug lab crisis is now considered a fugitive after he failed to show up in court today.
Marcus Pixley was supposed to show up in court Wednesday for a hearing, but he did not appear, according to Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley’s office. A judge gave him until 10 a.m. today to show up, but he did not and a warrant for his arrest was issued.
Pixley was originally held on $5,000 bail after he was arrested for allegedly selling cocaine to an undercover Boston police officer in the South End last year.
But because the drugs were tested by Annie Dookhan, the former state chemist accused of potentially tainting thousands of drug samples, a judge reduced Pixley’s bail to $1,000. He was able to post that bail.
Despite Dookhan’s testing of the drugs in the case, prosecutors still objected to Pixley’s bail being lowered. They cited his record as a habitual offender and other convictions on assault, armed robbery and rape.
When he is arrested, prosecutors plan to ask for an increase in bail.
