Gov. Deval Patrick did not rule out the possibility of a presidential run when asked recently if he could see himself as a national candidate at some point in the future.

“Maybe. Maybe,” Patrick said in an interview with Politico.

Patrick has been in Washington, D.C., since Saturday for the National Governors Association meetings, which were scheduled to continue through Monday.

Patrick, 57, is serving his second term as the state’s governor. His term ends in January and he chose not to seek re-election to a third term.

Also in the report, Patrick said he has no plans to run for office again, but plans to return to government in the future.

“I’d like to have another opportunity to serve. I believe in service. I enjoy it,” Patrick said.
