MassDOT gets funding for 12 projects totaling $6 million

MassDOT received 12 separate federal transportation grants totaling $6.1 million to boost projects including Commonwealth Avenue reconstruction in Boston, design for the Burgin Parkway Access Bridge project in Quincy, and development of the “Mile of Mills” Riverwalk in Lowell.

On Wednesday the transportation authority announced Massachusetts received the grants, beating out other agencies.

Over 1,800 applications were submitted nationwide.

Projects in the Bay State and Boston area include road resurfacing, sidewalk reconstruction, traffic signal upgrades and other safety improvements on Commonwealth Avenue totaling $1 million.
