New Yorkers wrote their favorite memories of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's reign today as part of the Six-Word Festival on Twitter. The festival asks celebrities and media gadflies like Jason Biggs and Jane Pratt to give Twitter users prompts to tweet memoirs in six words on topics like, "What Advice Your Mom Forgot To Give You."
Comedian and author Baratunde Thurston challenged New Yorkers to tweet what they'll #MissAboutBloomberg as he gets ready to end his tenure as mayor of New York City. The challenge was definitely tongue-in-cheek, at least on Thurston's part, and most of the participants followed suit.
Most Twitter users waxed poetic about Bloomberg's butchering of the Spanish language or made jokes about stop-and-frisk: One man tweeted, "Do I just frisk myself now?" Many also mocked his war on sugary drinks.
Thurston's favorite tweet came from @ndyroth, who tweeted, "Los muchos tweetos brilliante de @ElBloombito." @ElBloombito is a parody Twitter account mocking the mayor's Spanglish.
