MBTA police chase down panhandler at South Station

Transit Police arrested a Boston man who was allegedly “aggressively panhandling” at South Station last night, but not without a good old fashioned foot chase.

Police said that around 9:30 p.m. last night they saw Ryan Ross, 28, trying to get money from women near Track 1 in the commuter rail section of South Station. They said Ross gave them a false name and age, and when police were trying to get the correct information, Ross took off.

“He made it all the way to Beech and South Street’s, however the officers kept up step for step… and apprehended him,” Transit Police said in a statement.

According to police, Ross has warrants out of Quincy District Court for receiving stolen property and larceny from a building.
