Mission aborted: Controversial ad done

Council Speaker Christine Quinn will meet Friday with the mother of a girl whose face was plastered on a controversial ad in SoHo.

Council Speaker Christine Quinn will meet Friday with the mother of a girl whose face was plastered on a controversial ad in SoHo.

Lamar Advertising, the billboard company, promised they would yank the anti-abortion billboard yesterday after complaints from Tricia Fraser. Fraser is the mother of the girl used in the provocative pro-life ad, which reads, “The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb.”

The photo was a years-old stock shot, said a distraught Fraser, and never should have been used, Quinn said. The billboard was erected Feb. 21 and was supposed to stay up for three weeks.

Doris Stinga, at Funnyface modeling agency, said Fraser’s is a common complaint — and she warns parents never to sign off on stock photos of their kids.

“They’re not aware of the consequences,” she said.
