The MTA will provide more frequent and direct service to the Mets' Citi Field during the All-Star Game and related events next week.
During the All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 16, LIRR Port Washington Branch trains will run every 30 minutes to and from the Mets-Willets Point Station. New York City Transit will also supplement the 7 subway line with extra trains in the event of overcrowding.
On Sunday and Monday, during the Home Run Derby and other All-Star Game festivities, the service change will also take place.
The 7 train will run super-express after the last out during the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game, stopping only at 61st St.-Woodside, Queensboro Plaza, Court Square, 42nd St. Grand Central, 5th Avenue-Bryant Park and Times Square-42nd St.
"There’s no reason to sit in traffic when baseball fans can ride the MTA for an easy, comfortable ride to all the All-Star action," MTA Chairman and CEO Thomas F. Prendergast said in a statement.
