Multiple people were stabbed in Riverside Park on Tuesday morning, an FDNY spokesman said.
Police reported a 43-year-old man was taken into custody about 8:30 a.m. near West 64th Street and West End Avenue. He was held at the scene by a civilian until cops arrived. They are classifying the suspect as an emotionally disturbed person.
A pair of scissors that police say was the weapon used was recovered at the scene.
Police said the stabbing victims are one 36-year-old man, three women ages 32, 35 and 36, and a 2-year-old girl.
The three women and toddler were taken to Roosevelt Hospital, and the male victim was taken to St. Luke's Hospital. They are all expected to live.
The 911 call came in at 7:58 a.m., the spokesman said, reporting a stabbing in the park near 4 Riverside Drive and West 73rd Street.
Last week, a mother walking with her child in a stroller was assaulted in the park. She fought off her assailant with a bike pump, police said.
