Nailed for mortgage fraud

After a 16-month investigation, Suffolk County police arrested a Holbrook man on Wednesday for mortgage fraud.

Delroy Anderson, 43, of 835 Broadway Ave., was charged with seven counts of mortgage fraud after swindling private lenders in Suffolk, Nassau and Denver, Colo., out of $1.1 million, in connection with five Gordon Heights properties and a Mt. Vernon building.

Anderson obtained six mortgages by filing false information, and stopped making mortgage payments on the properties.

Anderson’s swindling history dates back to May 2001, when he was arrested in New Jersey on similar charges.
