Neil Patrick Harris is going from “How I Met Your Mother” to Harvard as the recipient of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals 2014 Man of the Year award.

Harris, 40, was announced Thursday as this year’s recipient of the traditional pudding pot. A ceremony and traditional performance of “Victorian Secrets” will take place Feb. 7 at Harvard.

The star of the long-running and popular CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” is being recognized for his contributions to the arts and entertainment.

“We are pleased to present Mr. Harris with our Man of the Year Award honoring his distinguished contributions to the arts and entertainment industry,” Tony Oblen, president of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, said in a statement. “With his enviable reputation as a host and showman, we look forward to hosting Mr. Harris for an entertaining and unforgettable evening to recognize his achievements.”

Harris, who is returning to Broadway this year in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” described the honor as “fancy.”

“I assume this is for that pudding wrestling competition I won last April… right?” Harris said in a statement. “It was dark and seemed quite seedy at the time — I’m stoked that it’s connected with Harvard. Fancy! Can’t wait!”

Hasty Pudding Theatricals annually present the awards to a male and female performer who have made “lasting and impressive” contributions to the world of entertainment, according to the organization. Previous recipients include Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Robert de Niro and Justin Timberlake.

Helen Mirren was announced as Hasty Pudding’s Woman of the Year earlier this month, with a ceremony taking place next week.
