A new commuter rail station in Brighton just got one step closer to becoming a reality.

The finance committee of the state Department of Transportation board this week recommended for approval the new station that will be part of the Brighton Landing development, according to the MBTA.

The stop will be part of the Worcester Line and will be built in conjunction with the new mixed-use 1.4 million-square-foot project centered around the New Balance world headquarters. Boston Landing has agreed to fully fund the design and construction of the station.

The DOT board will consider the new station at its meeting next week.
