Council members announced Monday night the results of the second round of what they call participatory budgeting — where residents vote how to spend about $1 million in funds allotted to each district.
In Brooklyn, nearly 3,000 people voted during the weekend, picking six projects among 24 options, according to Councilman Brad Lander’s office.
Those projects include fixing eight bathrooms at The Carroll School, where the last renovation was in 1954, according to Councilman Brad Lander.
Residents also voted to fund 34 smart boards at P.S. 179 and P.S. 230 as well as computers at the Carroll Cardens and Windsor Terrace library branches.
And in Gowanus, 10 trees will be added from Bond Street to Third Avenue to help with shade and storm drainage.
In Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito’s East Harlem district, residents voted to spend $500,000 to install security cameras at housing developments like the Millbrook Houses.
They also voted to fund laptops for schools around the area and technology centers for youth and seniors.
