Newborn survives trash chute

A teenage mother is accused of putting her newborn baby in a trash bag and throwing him down a garbage chute yesterday morning, police said.

According to the NYPD, the baby boy was thrown from the eighth floor at the Walt Whitman Houses, which border Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn.

The building superintendent reportedly heard a baby’s cries coming from inside a pile of trash and called the police. It is believed his fall was cushioned by bags of trash at the bottom of the chute.

Laquasia Wright, 18, was arrested yesterday and charged with attempted murder. The baby is in stable condition.
