Police are looking for a van driver who fatally ran over a 40-year-old cyclist in Queens on Sunday night.
The cyclist was riding west on Rockaway Boulevard in Ozone Park around 9:30 p.m. when he sideswiped and struck the passenger side of a black Mercedes-Benz van going in the same direction, police said.
The cyclist, who was not yet otherwise identified, was knocked down from the contact and then run over by the van, police said. He was later pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.
After running over the cyclist, police said the van's driver stopped and exited the vehicle for a moment before returning to the van and driving off west on Rockaway Boulevard without notifying authorities.
Police said investigators believe the vehicle may have been a sprinter van, commonly used as "party buses."
