An NYU student was arrested Monday after police discovered guns that resembled assault rifles in his dorm room.

Bernard Goal, 20, of Texas was arrested for allegedly buying parts for air guns, assembling them and selling them online, the New York Post reports. The weapons are not deadly but are still illegal in the city.

A maintenance worker found the rifles on Goal’s bed during a routine check of the room, according to the Post. The worker contacted campus security who then contacted the NYPD. Police later determined that the guns were airsoft rifles, which use small plastic ammunition.

Goal was charged with five counts of unlawful possession or sale of replica firearms, the Post reports. He faces up to a year in prison. He was released Tuesday night on $2,000 bail.
